The AutoChat channel is AutoTalk's built-in web chat widget. It allows visitors to your website to start real-time conversations with your team or AI agents directly from the browser. Messages from the widget appear in your Inbox alongside messages from all other channels.

When to use this channel

  • You want to offer live chat on your website without relying on a third-party chat tool
  • You want website visitors to be able to ask questions, request support, or start a sales conversation immediately
  • You want to connect an AI agent to handle website inquiries automatically, 24/7

Setting up the AutoChat widget

Step 1: Create the channel

  1. In the sidebar, go to Integrações > Canais to open the Channels list.

  2. Click the Adicionar canal (Add channel) button.

  3. In the channel type dropdown, select AutoChat.

  4. Additional configuration fields will appear. Fill in the required settings, which may include:

    • Widget name — A label to identify this widget in your Channels list
    • Welcome message — The greeting visitors see when they open the chat
    • Appearance settings — Colors, position, and branding options to match your website
    • AI agent assignment — Optionally connect an AI agent to handle conversations automatically
  5. Save the channel.

Step 2: Embed the widget on your website

After saving, AutoTalk provides an embed code (a small snippet of HTML/JavaScript). To install it:

  1. Copy the embed code from the channel settings.
  2. Paste it into your website's HTML, just before the closing </body> tag.
  3. Publish or deploy your website.

The chat widget will now appear on your site, typically as a small button in the bottom-right corner.

Step 3: Test the widget

Open your website in a browser and click the chat button. Send a test message and confirm that it appears in your AutoTalk Inbox. Reply from the Inbox and verify that the response shows up in the widget on your site.

  • Real-time messaging — Visitors and your team exchange messages instantly
  • AI agent support — Connect an AI agent so the widget can answer questions automatically, even outside business hours
  • Custom branding — Adjust the widget's colors, logo, and position to match your website's design
  • Chat links — AutoTalk can generate a direct link to the chat (for example, chat.autotalk.app/your-company) that you can share in emails, social media bios, or printed materials without embedding the widget

Important considerations

  • The widget only works on websites where you have added the embed code. It will not appear on pages that do not include the script.
  • If you use a content management system (like WordPress, Wix, or Shopify), look for the option to add custom HTML or scripts and paste the embed code there.
  • Conversations from the widget are treated like any other channel in AutoTalk. You can assign them to team members, route them through workflows, or let AI agents handle them.
tip

Share the chat link on platforms where you cannot embed code, such as Instagram bios, email signatures, or printed flyers. Visitors can click the link to open a chat with your business in their browser.
